Lagos, a city defined by its vibrant coastline and bustling maritime trade, is setting the stage for an extraordinary culinary experience the Lagos Seafood Festival 2025. Organized by the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, the festival seeks to showcase not just the state’s abundant seafood offerings but also the economic power of its maritime industry.
With the theme “Buy, Eat, Party,” this year’s event will take place from April 24th to 26th, 2025, across three strategic locations: Lagoon Restaurant (Victoria Island), Anuoluwapo Fish Market (Law School, Victoria Island), and Oluwo Fish Market (Epe). These venues will transform into bustling hubs of flavors, culture, and commerce, uniting seafood lovers, traders, and global buyers under one umbrella.
More than just a feast, the Lagos Seafood Festival is a movement one that reinforces Lagos’ status as West Africa’s leading maritime hub while promoting sustainable seafood trade. According to Lagos State’s Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Idris Aregbe, the event is more than a celebration of flavors; it is an economic empowerment strategy that connects seafood merchants with international markets and drives investment into Lagos’ aquaculture sector.
“This festival is an expression of Lagos’ rich maritime heritage. It’s a platform for businesses to thrive, a cultural experience for visitors, and an opportunity to elevate our local seafood industry on a global scale,” Aregbe stated.
Attendees can expect an immersive experience with:
✔ Gourmet seafood tastings featuring Lagos’ finest cuisines.
✔ Live cooking demonstrations by acclaimed chefs.
✔ Market tours and interactive workshops for seafood traders and entrepreneurs.
✔ Cultural exhibitions and networking sessions to drive business collaborations.
As part of Lagos’ T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda, which prioritizes tourism and economic development, this initiative aims to position Lagos as a world-class tourism and business destination while strengthening its seafood trade.
With the ocean as its heritage and seafood as its pride, Lagos is ready to make waves on the global culinary stage.
